International Olympiad of Science (iOS) Class 7: syllabus, dates and exam pattern (2026–27)

SilverZone publishes these under the heading "Tentative Examination Schedule for the year 2026-27" — they are the body's own dates, but SilverZone has not marked them final, so treat them as indicative until your school confirms. The schedule page lists three dates while the iOS page still describes a two-date structure; ask your coordinator which of the published dates your school has opted for.
Registration: SilverZone registers students through participating schools; the prospectus with the exact registration cutoff is sent to schools directly, and SilverZone does not publish a cutoff date publicly. A school needs a minimum of 20 registrations to run the paper and pays no fee to become a registered centre. If your school does not currently offer iOS, a coordinator can request a prospectus from info@silverzone.org or 011-69114100.
The deadline is set by your school, not by you
Most parents find the exam date and assume they have until then. The registration window closes long before it, and for some papers it has already started closing. Here is how it actually works.
- Your school registers your child and your school picks which of the 2–3 dates the class sits. The family does not choose.
- For SOF papers, registrations must reach SOF exactly 30 days before that chosen date — and once the school has chosen, the date cannot be changed.
- CREST is the exception: it registers students directly, online, with no school involved. It is the one body a parent can act on alone.

This is the shortest syllabus list on any of our exam pages, and that is the finding, not an omission. SilverZone's published Class 7 science list maps onto only eight of the twelve chapters in the new Curiosity book — it does not name metals and non-metals, adolescence, Earth-Moon-and-Sun, or the opening chapter on how science evolves. But it does name three chapters that are not in the 2026-27 book at all: reproduction in plants, the wastewater story, and forests. All three were Class 7 chapters in the previous NCERT, all three still sit in olympiad question banks, and none of them will be taught in your child's classroom this year. That is roughly one section's worth of marks — Natural Resources alone is 5 marks — that school study cannot reach. Our Class 7 science practice keeps all three in scope. Separately, the Reasoning and Aptitude section (7 questions, 21 marks) is a distinct spine and is not drawn from the science chapters.
